Last night as I was getting my children ready for bed, Jasmine ran to me with her top lip bleeding. I asked her what was wrong. She just had this really goofy look on her face. Kwandis asked her too, and she came up with a story (aka lie) that she had fallen and busted her lip. He asked her if she had used my razor. She stuck closely with her story...she fell in my bathroom and cut her lip. When he walked off, I asked her again. She told the truth. With her precious puppy dog eyes, she confessed her wrongdoing. I felt sorry for my little pumpkin. I dared not scold her, but I sternly explained to her what she did wrong (lying) and what she should have done (tell the truth).
After putting everyone to bed, my mind wondered on exactly why she did it. I couldn't help to wonder if, at the age of three, she was desperately trying to achieve a certain look about herself, or if she was just curiously about the effects of a pretty pink razor. However, I did not come up with a concrete answer. What I did decide was that it was now time to truly child-proof my bathroom.
